On March 4th, 1789, the United States Congress held its first session in New York City, marking a pivotal moment in American history. This gathering laid the groundwork for the legislative body that would shape the nation’s laws and policies. With just 13 states represented, the early Congress faced the monumental task of establishing a functioning government under the newly ratified Constitution. Fast forward to today, and March 4th is also recognized for its significance in Presidential history. In 1933, Franklin D. Roosevelt was inaugurated as the 32nd President of the United States, delivering his famous "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" speech during a time of economic turmoil. This day serves as a reminder of the resilience and determination that has characterized American leadership throughout history.
